The rhinoceros is an intriguing animal. With its large bearing it looks to be a formidable creature. The rhinoceros can actually move quite quickly considering its size. The rhinoceros can be a very peace loving animal but it can also be equally dangerous when it feels threatened. Here are some interesting facts about Rhinos :-

1. Rhinoceroses get their name from their horns. The word rhinoceros comes from the Greek rhino (nose) and ceros (horn).

2. Rhino horns are made of keratin, like our fingernails and hair.

3. The rhinoceros has poor eyesight but it has a highly developed sense of smell and hearing.

Pigs include the domestic pig, its ancestor the wild boar, and several other wild relatives. Pigs are omnivores and are highly social and intelligent animals. Here are some interesting facts about Pigs :-

1. The words pig, hog and swine are all generic terms without regard to gender, size or breed. A male pig is called a BOAR. A female pig is called a GILT if she hasn't had Piglets yet and a SOW if she has.

2. Pigs are very intelligent and learn quickly. They pick up tricks faster than dogs. Pigs rank #4 in animal intelligence behind chimpanzees, dolphins and elephants.

3. A sow can give birth to a litter containing 7 to 12 piglets, about twice a year. A baby pig, or piglet, weighs about 1.5 kilograms at birth and will double its weight in just 7 days.


RAINING ANIMALS - Weird But True

Raining animals is a rare meteorological phenomenon in which flightless animals "rain" from the sky. Such occurrences have been reported from many countries throughout history.

One hypothesis offered to explain this phenomenon is that strong winds traveling over water sometimes pick up creatures such as fish or frogs, and carry them for up to several miles. However, this primary aspect of the phenomenon has never been witnessed or scientifically tested.

Sometimes the animals survive the fall, In some incidents, however, the animals are frozen to death or even completely encased in ice. Some cases occur just after storms having strong winds, especially during tornadoes.


Interesting Facts About PANDAS

The Panda is a bear native to central-western and south western China. It is easily recognized by its large, distinctive black patches around the eyes, over the ears, and across its round body. Though it belongs to the order Carnivora, the panda's diet is 99% bamboo. Here are some interesting facts about these creatures :-

1. A newborn panda cub is 1/900th the size of its mother and is comparable to the length of a stick of butter.

2. A panda’s paw has six digits – five fingers and an opposable pseudo-thumb it uses merely to hold bamboo while eating.

3. Historically speaking, pandas are one of the few animals whose parts have not been used in traditional Chinese medicine.


FAITH -THE BIPED DOG :-

Well most of them do, but not wonder dog Faith. She was born with deformities, she only had one front leg and it had to be removed when she was 7 months because it was starting to atrophy. But thanks to the care of her adoptive owners Faith managed to survive and grow into an amazing dog. She learned to move by using only her 2 remaining legs, but, according to her owners although it was a very difficult process, it was also natural.
